Getting the server to grow.

Hola seniors och senjoritas. Dos cervezas, por favor.

And now that we got that outta the way, time for the checklist to make the server thrive.

Discord - check
make an easy how-to-section here on the forum how to set up discord and the bigger issue is !!how to get screen captures about gameplay" that will be posted on the discord channel, create another chat where players can post their own gameplay and that is used for....

Facebook, twitter, ig - ?
Ii got nothing on this, i had a button on the streaming deck that posted on all platforms when the stream was starting and when it was closing. Someone else can have ideas about this part

Youtube channel - ?
The material you get from discord, you make montages for youtube with theatrical elements and music and funny cats and any kinda shit that makes you get more clicks on youtube. That will take you only so far though. Gotta get videos with captioned chat in it and all that so the videos keep people clicking the "watch next video" button. More material could be done thru events and competitions, that don't have to have a payout, just the bragging rights and something untradeable and unique so people actually want to win it instead of arsing around.

Twitch - ?

This has the most potential of it all, easy to set up and gets the server some revenue eventually thru subscriptions, donations, tips and ad-rev, that can be used for marketing and/or upgrading.
Be active with the events and competitions, maybe like a weekly stream-derby at a certain time like saturday 10PM, stream it with a commentator and roam around the area with the observer mode. Be on time, and don't miss a single stream (accounts on twitch can be shared so any of the mods can start it up) and in no time there will be 100 people watching it weekly and a lot more wanting to join the events.

-----

Hope this post gets attention, keep posting ideas and i can edit the post according on where we are and where we are going. Would be awesome if the mods gave out their output also on the say.

So far, really good work, gotta compliment you all.
I enjoy the game as it is, but it wouldn't hurt to get more players in it.

Peace out.

Sounds good to me, Iv always thought it be a good idea to film our events. I know Sil has a few good videos of our events.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

It's swings and roundabouts as much as I like all your suggestions.

To attract 'new' players the website needs to be swinging and dancing first.
The bring back players that have fled to Rev, the combat system needs sorting.
Once the cb system has been looked it, i'm sure players will come back as no1 likes the changed shit on rev.

Pyru has kept this as close to classic as possible as regards items, but introduced the skill rates so that players that want to pk and stake can do so quickly by training their characters.

There's no point in showcasing events or advertising 100% yet without the face of the server not complete, the website.
Trust me, it will be worth it when it comes.

And when it does, all new video content can be added to show the events we have. Attracting players to return to us.

Keep the faith, like much of us being here since day one.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

Yea i know it's a rocky road, and that I'm new to the server, so i don't have all the in-depth info on all the twists and turns. But the fact is that the effort that we, as a community, push towards it now, is the thing that will make the growing possible...eventually.
People won't be coming overnight, and the videos for example don't appear in a day. If you make two 5min videos, you gotta have hours and hours of footage..

We've had events with good turn outs before. All good games too. Specific areas have been created for some aswell.
Its getting the numbers to participate and then to record.

Doesn't help when majority of this player base is American/Canadian based, so the times are different to us in Europe.
It will all come together. From what I was told previously, We have the opportunity to keep social media up to date. If and when they find someone suitable to do so.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

Yea i've noticed the same, as i'm +2hrs from you so it's +7hrs from these toronto guys tongue
Some of the veterans on the server from our timezone-ish should get a spot modding also so there wouldn't such big gaps with the server having to rely solely on the community.
Those events are just a waste of time though, if you have nothing to show from them, and only the regulars multi log in there.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

Exactly. We’re at a stage where we can’t win.
I was told I didn’t throw enough events. It’s a little hard to throw one when the same 6 people multi log to take part.
Ideally an announcement made via discord on forum with a timer would benefit everyone so that they can prepare to be online and plan around it. Instead of a spirit of the moment thing. A lot miss out then.

Mod Aussie is from the UK and is the only one in Europe now if I’m correct. Can’t remember where Cat is from.
To bring back players we need the fundamentals in place first. With a solid staff team. And no bickering. Each mod wants what’s best for everyone. Shame I wasn’t given the chance for the long haul.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

We had the same problem in the beginning with a helbreath server I started back in the days, but when you just stay active and throw like 2 events per week, one for the EU and one for NA so everyone in every timezone can get their piece of action. Same time, same day, every week, it will get you to the spot you want to. Just takes time, and gives good footage for other platforms. But still, we can "if" this all we want, without someone to be able to do it.

Re: Getting the server to grow.

Yeah, and the devs need to be transparent with the community. Create a roadmap on how things will go and with that keep us all posted on the progress.
