Master Fisher, Starting Location, Death Location & Drop Rates

I have added a Master Fisher to the river in Lumbridge so new players can obtain food to train. In the next couple of days the Master Fisher will only give out Trout as a food source. I know this will annoy a percentage of players but a lot of people are for this update too.

I've also changed the starting location to Lumbridge, so when a new character is created you will spawn in Lumbridge. This is to give it a more RuneScape Classic feel as well as an attempt to reduce the amount of players in Edgeville as that's very daunting to a new player who hasn't ever played Classic before.

I've also been nagged to make it so all players (including Subscribers) go to Lumbridge when they die as they're dying in the wilderness and returning within 30 seconds.

The Tutorial Island is practically done (and has been for the last few months) but until it is completely finished the starting items will now consist of everything you would normally have when you complete the Tutorial Island. Again, this is another attempt to give it a more RuneScape Classic feel with new players walking around with their wooden shields wielded, killing Chickens for meat and making fires, etc.

As we've had a big influx of RSCAngel players a large percentage of the online count is already used to having to obtain their own food either through Fishing or simply purchasing them so hopefully this won't be such a massive deal as before.

I've also been told that Lesser Demon's dropped far too many Law-Rune's so this has also been reduced.

The new client updater is in it's final stages so we can start distributing the temporialy client ready for the new server update which will hopefully make the server a lot more efficient. smile

I have also been in talks with a few Linux administrators so we can migrate over to a Linux operating system which will hopefully improve the stability even further. At the moment we're restarting the actual machine almost daily otherwise it completely bogs down. Something in the region of 1 million queries a day are being fired at the box which seems to really slow everything down which has been the cause for the recent occasional server downtime.

Keep tunas and simply stop people entering the Wilderness for 5 minutes after they die. This is a good punishment for dying too.

changing fisherman from lobs to tuna affected high level pkers.. but atleast 50s and lower could still have fun. This is going to make the game less fun for low level pkers.

The problem is, if for example we gave out free Swordfish everyone would PK with their highest hits character. If we give out Lobsters they go down a bit and even further with Tuna. People PK on certain characters depending on what food they have, so by giving them free Tuna it forces people who are lazy to PK on characters where Tuna is just right.

By removing it completely it will spread the levels out a bit further IMO. It's gunna be a slow process, but I slowly want to phase him out (or keep him solely in Lumbridge). Once we implement batched events there will be so much more food for sale anyway.

Keep tunas and stop trying to make this into RSC Angel.

People played RSCE so they could pk and not spend hours training or fishing. I think the balance is right at the moment and the increase in players week on week proves that.

If it isn't broke don't fix it???

Just keep him in lumby like you said and it will be all good. Other than the stupid fish issue everything sounds awesome!!! Very nice to spawn to lumby when I die.( To bad I don't ;D) I excited for the updates! They add to the RSC feel.

it doesnt force anybody to fish, it just forces them to buy food if they want to pk. theres no point of pking if all you get from a drop is a ammy which worth nothing.

I say go for it, give the masterfisher trout/salmon
then let him also sell a unlimited ammount of tuna for lets say 25 to 50gp.
So if you cant afford lobs, your not fucked completely.

If everyone has to fish for food now, do you think making it one click fishing kind of like mining is would be a good idea?  For example, click once, and it will keep refishing until you get a fish, just the way mining is.

Can you undo the spawn place and the drop rates of certain npc's for example
Black demon has stupidly high drop rate for rune items, whereas things like black dragons and blue dragons, which, black dragons are ever harder to kill than black demons, have a worse drop rate.

Black dragons and King Black Dragons drop rates are shit compared to Black demons and I think that this should be fixed to be honest.
Also, PLEASE remove the cabbage from Black demon, Black Dragon and King Black Dragon because it's irritating to spend ages killing them, and to get a cabbage...WTF? Lool.
